Sibao Wang
Professor
CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences, Institute of Plant Physiology & Ecology
He is the director of the CAS Key Laboratory of Insect Developmental and Evolutionary. He serves as a vice president of Entomological Society of China and the President of the Shanghai Society for Entomology. Prof. Wang has been working on molecular interactions between mosquitoes, pathogens, and microbiota, and development of innovative approaches to control insect pests and prevent mosquito-borne disease transmission. Prof. Wang has published papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, such as Science (2017, 2021), Cell Host & Microbe (2023), Nature Microbiology (2021), Science Advances (2020), Nature Communications (2019, 2023), PNAS (2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2021, 2023), Nature Aging (2024), The Innovation (2024), Cell Reports (2022), PLoS Pathogens (2011), Sci. I obtained my PhD degree in Microbiology from Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. After graduation, I joined Wang Lab as Assistant Professor. I have been appointed as Associate Professor since 2017. My research focuses on epigenetic and molecular mechanism in fungi-insect interactions. Relative research findings have been published in The Innovation (2024), Science Advances (2020), PNAS (2017, 2023), Annual Review of Entomology (2025)

I obtained my PhD degree from the University of Queensland in 2021 after four years of studying the population genetics of fruit flies. In April 2024, I joined Wang Lab, and I am currently working on mosquitoes. My research focuses on mosquito evolution, heat tolerance, and gut microbes.

I earned my Ph.D. in June 2024 from Zhejiang University. Motivated by my research experiences, I decided to continue exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying arthropod-borne disease transmission. In August 2024, I joined the Mosquito-Microbe Interactions Laboratory, led by Prof. Sibao Wang, a leading expert in the field. My current research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which mosquitoes transmit pathogens.

I obtained my PhD degree from CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science in 2024 after six years of studying the gut microbiota in Anopheles mosquitoes. In January 2025, I started my new journey as a postdoc in Wang Lab. My research focuses on the interaction between gut microbiota and mosquitoes.

I obtained my Master’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2021 after three years of studying the discovery of natural products from marine microorganisms. In July 2024, I joined the Wang Lab and I am interested in mosquito gut microbiota. My research focuses on the interactions between mosquito gut microbiota, Plasmodium, and the host, as well as the discovery of natural antimalarial compounds.
